Budget Safari · City & Park
The world's only national park inside a capital city, paired with Nairobi's best animal and cultural excursions — no long transfers required.
NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK · NAIROBI CITY
Built for travellers with a short layover, a light schedule before an international flight, or simply not enough time for an upcountry safari — this route packs a genuine game drive and Nairobi's best animal and cultural stops into two easy days, all within the city limits.
Nairobi National Park is the one place on Earth where lion, rhino, and giraffe graze with a skyline of glass towers on the horizon — a strange, striking sight that upcountry parks can't offer. From there the route adds two of the capital's best-loved excursions: the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's orphaned elephants, and the Bomas of Kenya's traditional homesteads and dance performances.
Everything runs by safari van from a central Nairobi pick-up point, with a budget guesthouse overnight between the two days.
Day by day
An early pick-up from your Nairobi hotel for a morning game drive through Nairobi National Park — lion, rhino, giraffe, buffalo, and zebra are all realistic sightings, with the city skyline visible across the plains for one of the more unusual photographs in Kenyan safari.
After the park, a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Elephant & Rhino Orphanage during the public visiting hour, where keepers hand-feed and explain the stories of orphaned elephants and rhinos being raised for eventual release back into the wild.
An optional stop at the nearby Giraffe Centre rounds out the afternoon, hand-feeding Rothschild giraffes at eye level from a raised platform.
A relaxed morning at the Bomas of Kenya, a cultural village of traditional homesteads representing several of Kenya's ethnic communities, with a live performance of traditional song and dance.
From there, transfer to your hotel or the airport for onward travel.
