DIANI BEACH
Five unhurried days on Kenya's south coast, with the itinerary built around how little you actually have to do.
Diani's stretch of white sand and warm, reef-sheltered water does most of the work here — swimming, walking the shoreline, and watching the tide come in. For days that want a bit more, the reef just offshore opens up snorkelling and glass-bottom boat trips, dolphins show up reliably enough along this stretch of coast to justify a morning spent looking for them, and a traditional dhow sail makes for one of the better sunset options anywhere in Kenya.
Every activity beyond the beach itself is optional — build the week around them, or ignore the list entirely and just be at the beach.
Day by day
A representative meets you at Diani Airstrip and transfers you to your beach resort. The rest of the day is unscheduled — settle in, take a first walk along the sand, and let the flight wear off.
A day with nothing fixed on it beyond breakfast. Swim, read, or arrange a snorkelling trip or glass-bottom boat ride out to the reef for a look at the coral and its residents.
Choose your own pace — a morning dolphin-watching trip along the south coast, or a slower dhow sail across the same stretch of ocean under a traditional sail instead of an engine. Either way, the afternoon is free again.
A change of rhythm — a visit to a local coastal community, a look at handmade crafts, or simply more beach, depending on what the week so far has left you wanting.
A final morning at the beach before checkout and the transfer back to Diani Airstrip for your onward flight.
